We're Unleashing The Hound Hunt!

This city-wide, dog-centric scavenger hunt will be the premiere event of the year! And it’s all benefitting the Austin Humane Society. The Hound Hunt is sure to be fun for the whole family, including your furry family members!

Here's the schedule of events for 9.10.11
  • 2pm – 3pm: “Sniffin’ Registration” - Day of registration & check-in will be held an hour before the Hunt at Jo's Coffee on South Congress.
  • 3pm: “Off The Leash” - The Hunt begins! Teams will be given a Pawsport, and a kick-doggy-butt tote filled with swag, on a first-in-line basis at Jo's Coffee. Once given the Pawsport, teams will run off to our Hydrant stops to sniff out clues, participate in barktivities and act as pawperazzi! (so make sure to bring a camera!)

For more information, please visit our website at: www.thehoundhunt.com.
  • 6pm: “Hound Round Up” - Teams will join us at metrodog, points will be tallied and winners announced and celebrated! Some of our prizes include a $50 gift card to metrodog and a 6-week training course at Zoom Room!
  • 6pm – 8pm: “After Pawty!” - Free and open to the public, so invite all your friends! We'll have some yummy drinks by El Viejo Luis, the Evil Weiner will be there serving hot dogs and Austin Humane Society will have their mobile adoption van for anyone looking to adopt a new furbaby!
There are tons of ways to receive points, and our scavenger hunt is special because you don’t have to complete every activity. We want to promote a FUN filled day with no rush. One that includes tattoos (for both humans & hounds!), fun photos and some awesome doggy swag.

We do have a secret for you though. At the hunt, you will also receive extra points if your entire team comes in matching outfits (Tshirts, theme, costume, sky's the limit!).

Pooches & Pawsmopolitans

Design  by Party Animals
On May 15th we had a very special birthday pawty for Chelsea at Zoom Room - she's turning a whopping 15 this summer!

We had a lot of fun planning this shindig for this downtown diva! Check out some of the highlights...

We created a custom banner that read: HAPPY BARKDAY CHELSEA in her oh-so-cute design.

We had some beau-teeee-ful giant martini treats, pup-cake and doggy gift bags provided by It's Pawsitevly Irresistible.

We didn't let the whole party go to the dogs - we had some delicious Pawsmopolitans for our Human guests!

Everyone had a barking good time!

Teeny's Seven Year Itch!

Marteeny McDougall, spokesdog for Teeny's Friends, is turning 7 this year, and he's inviting everyone to celebrate with him!

Join Party Animals as we throw Teeny a Seven Year Itch pawty at metrodog!

Transport back to Old Hollywood while you & your pooch strutt your stuff down the red carpet. Keep an eye out for the Pawparazzi snappin' your photo!

Snatch a star from the mouth watering Doggy Treat Buffet provided by It's Pawsitively Irresistible.

Pampered pooches can enjoy a soothing massage by Skillful Paws,
while our Human guests munch on goodies from Silver Grill Cafe and Lick It Bite It Or Both.

And for those over 21, we'll have a special Marteeny to wash it all down with!

As much as Teeny loves to be pampered with gifts, all he wants this year is to help his furry friends in need. We welcome you to bring a toy, as Teeny's Friends will be hosting a doggy toy drive during the pawty!

Check out the event on Facebook!

The Hound Hunt - Sniffing Out Austin

It's Pawsitively Irresistible are teaming up to bring you The Hound Hunt this fall, a city wide, dog-centric scavenger hunt! And we are looking for one shelter, rescue group or pet organization to benefit from this fundraising event.

We'll have clues and tasks for people to partake in all over the city, visiting different dog related shops and businesses. Businesses will pay a fee to be involved in the Hound Hunt, and all the proceeds will go directly back to the organization selected.

We are going to be carefully selecting the pawfect rescue group, and to do that we just need a little help from you. In the comment box below, tell us the name of your organization, where you hail from and answer the following questions:

  1. What is your organization's mission statement?
  2. What will your organization do with the extra money?
  3. What's your favorite dog friendly spot in Austin?
  4. How did you hear about The Hound Hunt?

Now sit back, relax and roll over while we take the next week and decide who will be the lucky organization.

Deadline for commenting is June 4th, 2011. Please pass this along to all your friends/contacts!

For The Hound About Town

Austin is such a special city for Pets, and their Humans. There are all kinds of festivals, services and products to really pamper your pooch!
According to a 2009 article by The Humane Society of The United States, there are over 77.5 million dogs in the U.S. And according to Scoop The Poop, 120,000 of those dogs are Austinites!
In addition to our furbulous pet parties, here are our top picks this month on what makes Austin so dog-gone-special!

  1. Austin is full of parks, but even better are the off-leash dog parks for your pup to frolic about. Here's a list from the City of Austin.
  2. Check out Alpha Beach at Action Pack Dog Center! Perfect for beating the Texas heat, they offer pool time, swim lessons and therapy. This ain't no Gus & Goldie!
  3. The Red Dog Company was founded on the belief that pets are more than just pets, they are members of your family. Their goal is to keep dogs healthy and safe, and their naturally shed antler's are a perfect fit for your nature-lovin' dog!
  4. Austin Pet First Aid will give you the skills and confidence to help your pets in an emergency. Their classes are pawfect for pet owners, and pet professionals, who are concerned for their pet's safety. The training includes a lecture, demo & hands-on skill practice.
  5. Planning a Wedding, Quinceanera or other big event? How would you like to include your handsome hound? Party Animals offers pet management & care during your special event! Whether you want us to strut your mutt down the isle or sit still in the audience, we are your perfect solution to make sure your four-legged-friend isn't left out of all the festivities!
  6. Austin Dog Alliance offers some incredible pet therapy, but one of their services really caught our eye. Bow Wow Reading Dogs is designed to help below grade level readers improve their skills, all by reading to a dog. What a fantastic way to improve a child's reading ability while offering that special pooch some great interaction.
  7. Let's face is, our lives are hectic. We have a million and one things to do and sometimes we run a little late with our personal haircare, and not to mention pet grooming. Why not have them come to you? Austin's Best Pet Care is Austin's mobile dog spa. Enough said!
  8. Vacation time is coming up, and as much as we'd all love to take our fur babies along with us, sometimes it just isn't an option. Need help finding the perfect pet sitter? Later Dog does all the work for you! Search by zip and read reviews, pricing and request a booking. Now you can spend more time planning your itinerary!
  9. Does your canine require more exercise? Apaws him with some Dog Running from Abby Loves Dogs. Abby, and her business pawtner Poncho, are ready to take your dog on a run!
  10. Dust off those platforms & bell bottoms! Let your doggy get down on it & run wild at Zoom Room's Doggy Disco.

Dogs Just Wanna Have Fun!

Spring is nature's way of saying, "Let's party!" - Robin Williams
The month of March brings a lot of happiness. Spring has arrived, birds are chirping and there’s some great celebrations like Spring Break, Saint Patrick’s Day and National Puppy Day. But the best part is, Austin's beautiful outdoors! So why not let our doggies in on the fun? We knew you would, so we’ve made this list of ways they can enjoy Austin this spring...and into the summer!

1. We all wish we had enough time to take our dogs for a hike, but with our busy schedules and daily grind, sometimes a brisk walk is all we've got left to offer. Have a seat, relax and take a look at Hound for Hound. They offer a Dog Day Afternoon where they’ll take your pooch on a trip to the greenbelt!

2. Go get your classy canine a Peticure! Midtown Groom & Board
offers a huge array of services to pamper your pooch, but their peticures definitely get Two-Paws-Up! And while you peruse their galleries, make sure to check out their Dog Tattoos and really cool "Austin" dos!

3. "Dancing with your feet is one thing, dancing with your heart is another, but dancing with your dog is something else!!" - Deb Abigt, founder of Paws-4-Freestyle Yeah, how awesome is that? Check out their upcoming class for Canine Freestyle in Austin!

4.  Love Yoga? Doga focuses on bonding and spending time with your dog by incorporating canine massage, dog & human poses and lots of hugs & petting! Nicole of Austin Doga offers classes every few Sundays at South Paws Play School.

5. Have a super active pup that loves to run wild? Well Jennifurrr's Pet Services has the solution for you: RollerDog. Your pup can choose to run, sprint, trot or just stroll along with their lead Musher, Jeff. They’ll even text you an update to let you know how far & fast your dog ran!

6. Want to check out a pet party? We’re hosting a shingdig for Jack the pug at our favorite venue in town, metrodog! Join us on March 26th for a day filled with fun, food and fotos! Stay tuned, the event & RSVP will be up soon!

7. How about some fun & fitness for both you and your dog? FitDog offers a fun, educational bootcamp where you can enhance your human-dog bond, all while keeping fit!

8. Get involved in something really special and volunteer with your pet. Therapy Pet Pals of Texas is a volunteer organization that shares the love of pets with institutionalized individuals who are not given the very special and unconditional love that our furry friends can give.

9. Do you ever reminisce of summer camp from the good ‘ole days? Escape for a weekend and take your canine along for a fun trip to Canine Camp 2011! From basic obedience & social etiquette to canine & companion sports, The Canine Center for Training and Behavior has a great weekend of fun waiting for you....and the human!

10. The Travis Agility Group is a non-profit organization that was formed to promote the sport of dog agility in the Austin/Central Texas area. They use positive motivation to train your dogs, give your dogs more confidence and create a stronger bond.

You don't have to let your house go to the dogs!

We all love a good party, why not throw a shindig for your pups? We understand hosting (and entertaining) a party at your house can be completely overwhelming, so picture this:
  • Art-deco walls filled with your favorite pet products
  • Pup cakes that makes the most domesticated diva drool
  • Hearing the musical notes of their paws & your cute heels on the hard wood floors
  • Windows from ceiling to floor that bring in the nighttime glow
  • The cute little pug in the corner getting her nails painted pink
  • Doggie bags filled with swag that'll make their tails wag
  • And all your favorite Humans & Canines schmoozing (or boozing!) the night away!!
If you want the best party - the kind everyone's barking about for months - you want to have it at metrodog!

Your furbaby can have everything described above, plus we have great additions to make your party simply fabulous!
Contact us and we'll work out all the details, so at the end of the party you & posh puppy can strut your stuff and not worry about a thing!
